REDEINNOVA

We created the identity and graphic system for REDEINNOVA, the network that sat competing schools at the same table. Three seminars, three cities, one language.

01

Context

REDEINNOVA —the National Network of Schools for Innovation— brought together schools ranked at the top of Colombia's national exams so they could tell each other how they taught. Gimnasio Moderno, Montessori, San Ignacio de Loyola, La Enseñanza, Alemán, Gimnasio Los Pinares, San Pedro Claver and Instituto Alberto Merani, backed by Universidad del Rosario, Fundación Compartir, Fundación Podemos and Editorial Magisterio.

02

The challenge

None of those schools needed the others. They compete for the same families and the same ranking position. Convening them required a brand that belonged to no one in particular: if the material looked like it came from one school, the rest would not show up. And every seminar changed city, host and crests in the footer.

03

Our approach

  1. 01

    A brand with no owner

The mark is a brain drawn as a network: coloured nodes joined by straight lines. No dot is larger than another and none uses a member school's colour. You read the network before you read the brain, which is exactly the order of the argument.

  2. 02

    Crumpled paper as the idea

The graphic motif is lightbulbs made of crumpled paper hanging from a filament. It is the image of the discarded draft turned into the image of the idea that lights up. It carried all three events without repeating itself: the colour, background and framing change, the concept never does.

  3. 03

    Three areas, three icons

Critical reading, Education for peace and Mathematics each got their own icon. Attendees pick a workshop before registering, so the three areas had to be tellable apart at a glance on the poster, the leaflet and the deck.

  4. 04

A template that survives the footer

Each event added different conveners, organizers and sponsors. We built the grid so the band of crests could grow without breaking the composition — the exact point where this kind of piece usually falls apart.

  5. 05

From the poster to the workshop table

The system did not stop at the announcement. It includes the two-sided leaflet with the seminar's four stages, the matrix of which school leads which workshop, and the deck projected in the room. The same graphic piece follows attendees from the moment they see the ad to the moment they sit down.

04

The solution

A neutral, recognizable graphic system that travelled from Bogotá to Bucaramanga and Medellín, changing host without changing voice: identity, posters, two-sided leaflets, thematic icons and the in-room deck.

3 seminars

Bogotá 2016, Bucaramanga and Medellín 2017, on one system

8 schools

among the country's top scores, convened under a brand belonging to none of them

4 partners

Universidad del Rosario, Compartir, Podemos and Magisterio backing the network
